What is Requip?

2 ratings | 260 views
Описание: Requip is used to treat Parkinson’s disease, as well as restless legs syndrome in lower doses. Ropinirole is also available in its generic form. The active ingredient in Requip, ropinirole, works by mimicking the effects of a chemical in the brain called dopamine. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter, meaning that it is involved in transmitting nerve messages to and from the brain, and around the body. Dopamine is very involved in motor control, or physical movement, hence an imbalance or dysfunction of it may lead to symptoms like those seen in Parkinson’s disease. Ropinirole binds to dopamine receptors; the sites where dopamine binds and its nerve message is picked up. This, in turn, substitutes lacking dopamine and reduces the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and restless leg syndrome. Ropinirole can either be used alone, or in conjunction with levodopa to treat Parkinson’s disease, as is particularly useful in people for whom levodopa alone is no longer providing adequate control of symptoms. You should always consult your doctor if you have any concerns before taking any medication. Thank you for watching!
